Donn” for his “Cruisin 66” radio show on KDSK 92.7 FM Radio. Donn prided himself on the show and his music. He was always happy to share his wealth of musical knowledge with those around him, even donating a trove of records to New Mexico State University-Grants. Courtesy Photo

GRANTS, N.M. – A community leader, friend, mentor, disc jockey, and fountain of knowledge passed away on February 15. Donn Webb was 75 when he passed, leaving this world to join his wife in eternal bliss.

Webb was a man of faith. He cared deeply for his religion, his community, and his work. His neighbors described Webb as a kind man, who was always happy to share his wealth of knowledge on any number of topics – but, above all, of music.

Webb led an incredible life that led him to meeting rockstars, genuine rockstars like Paul Mc-Cartney, Ray Walker, The Beach Boys, and one of the rockstars he was most proud to have met, Lesley Gore who had a number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the 1960s. He had a photo with her that she autographed for him.

Webb was such a big fan of music, he once said, “If it’s important to remember Thomas Jefferson, it’s pretty important to remember The Four Tops!”

Webb was proud to share his wealth of knowledge with anyone who was willing to sit down and learn. As an educator, Webb understood the importance of education. He had a wealth of records, photos of music legends, and music history memorabilia that he gifted to New Mexico State University-Grants in 2021.

On July 21, 2021, NMSU-G held a special event where Webb put his records and photos on display. Before donating his trove of musical history to the local college, Donn was an educator at the school. He loved to support his community and his students.

Webb was a pillar of his community and a friend to many.

He wrote for the Cibola Citizen, in a column bearing the same name as the radio show he loved to put on: Cruzzin Cibola. He will be missed by his friends at the newspaper, and across the county. Find the last of his written works below.
