CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. – Celebrating Cibola County’s event of the year, the Grants Cibola-County community enjoyed a successful 2022 Chamber Banquet.

Award winners

Awards were won by a popular vote from members of the community. Ballots are sent out to chamber members, who then distribute them. According to Chamber Executive Director Brenda Curtright, “To be involved in the process of electing next year’s winners, there are two great ways to be involved: 1. Shop at your local businesses and ask for a ballot as you prepare to check out. 2. Become a member of the chamber! Membership isn’t just for businesses, it’s for individuals, too.” Ballots were all submitted by community members back to the chamber in January.

This year’s award winners and photos from the event can be found in the supplemental Chamber Banquet Tab for this edition of the newspaper.

Ambassador Program

Executive Director of the Grants-Cibola County Chamber of Commerce Brenda Curtright announced a new and exciting program for the chamber. Calling it the “Ambassador Program,” Curtright wants to make the chamber more accessible to member businesses and the general public.

Ambassadors will wear a maroon jacket; businesses can contact chamber ambassadors about questions or concerns they may have. If a member business is in need of support, an ambassador can help. A Junior Ambassador Program is coming soon to the chamber, will offer scholarship opportunities to the high school aged ambassadors.

The program will allow the youth to better understand their community and the needs of it, so when they grow older and have their degrees, they can come back and help build the community that fostered them.

“The Chamber is committed to working with and growing our community. We can do that efficiently and effectively if we get our students involved too. They are our future leaders, and we look forward to working with our leaders of tomorrow,” Curtright said.
