Fatal crash outside Prewitt

PREWITT, N.M. – Killing one, the rollover of a semi-truck on Interstate 40 outside of Prewitt, New Mexico in the early morning of February 22 is being investigated by the New Mexico State Police.

Around 5:15 a.m., an International Commercial Motor Vehicle, for unknown reasons, drove off Interstate 40 and flipped. The semi-truck was driven by Craig R. Wendt, a 34-year-old man from Goodyear, Arizona; Wendt was the only fatality.

According to New Mexico State Police, alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in this accident, seatbelts appear to have been used correctly by Wendt. More information will be released by NMSP as it becomes publicly available.
