GRANTS, NM – Fire Marshal Dustin Middleton has issued a heat advisory for Cibola County in response to the heat wave that has settled over New Mexico.

He advises people who are out and about to be careful of the heat that has impacted across the world this past week. Middleton listed ways to stay safe throughout this heat advisory. The most important, he said, is to stay hydrated by drinking enough water and not too much sugary drinks.

Along with drinking enough water is to drink an adequate number of electrolyte drinks with water. Middleton explains that it is best to balance electrolytes with water to make sure that people do not get sick based off one or the other.

Middleton wants the people of Cibola County to know that if they are feeling lightheaded, sick, or too hot, they should get indoors and cool down.
