The Golden Horseshoe, a former honky-tonk bar from the area's mining days, was demolished last Friday.
Located just off Highway 605 near Route 66 and outside the Village of Milan, the once-popular bar had sat empty and crumbling for years. Now, with the building gone, racers at the nearby Uranium Legacy Speedway are cautioning each other not to miss the turn—a turn once easily marked by this relic of the uranium boom era.
