Grants council hires new attorney’s

GRANTS, N.M. – The City of Grants now has new lawyer representing them, the action occurred when the city council voted to hire the law firm Robles, Rael & Anaya, P.C. at the last city council meeting which took place on September 17. Only three councilmen were present at the meeting, those being Mayor Pro tem Rick Lucero, along with Councilmen Fred Padilla and Fred Rodarte. Councilman Erik Garcia was absent, and Mayor Martin “Modey” Hicks opened the meeting, but then had to leave to attend employment.

Before the mayor left the meeting, he asked the council to postpone several items on the agenda since neither himself nor Garcia would not be able to comment on the items. The agenda items that were removed and will be added to the next council meeting agenda, which will take place on September 23 were: Finance presentation, Grants Sakelares Blvd. TPF Project, Task order 091621 Roosevelt Bridge replacement, Task order 093621, and Mayor Martin Hicks attorney fees.

The council only acted on two items at the September 17 meeting and those were the hiring of the new city attorneys and approving the First Street Phase 2 lighting alternative (Solar lighting).

The September 23 special council meeting will included the following agenda items; the finance presentation, task order 091621 Roosevelt Ave. Bridge replacement, Chamber of Commerce presentation and appoint golf course advisory board.
