It’s exciting for all of us.” Widner also pointed out some dignitaries that were present at the groundbreaking that assisted with the project that include, Councilor George Garcia, Councilor Fred Rodarte, School Board President Francie Lee, School Board Vice President T. Jaramillo and State Representative Harry Garcia, State Representative Eliseo Alcon and the First Lieutenant Governor of the Pueblo of Acoma Wendell Chino. Widner also acknowledged some individuals that were not present at the groundbreaking which include Mayor Erik Garcia, Police Chief Maxine Monte, Sheriff Larry Diaz and Senator George Munoz.

School Board Presi- Continued form A1 dent Lee said, “Today is an important day. This has been a long time in coming, the implementation of the new Mesa View process began back in 1920. The voters of Cibola County cast the first bond in 2021 with a resounding 79 percent support from all of the voters… That bond has allowed the district to begin improving, replacing schools that were in great need… As we build this replacement learning facility and school, we must remind ourselves that this is a celebration of community that has all come together to take the steps to make big changes to support our children, our students, our teachers, our staff, our friends and families. This is more than just a building, more than just a school, this is a commitment, this is an investment in our students, in our community and in our future.”
