MILAN, N.M. – McElroy Park has reopened after the Village of Milan temporarily closed the park when workers discovered damage to playground equipment.
Village Clerk Denise Baca said the Parks Department conducts weekly inspections of play equipment at the park. During a recent inspection, workers found a crack in a bracket on the swing set that appeared to be caused by normal wear and use.
The Village closed the park as a precaution and Parks Department employees removed the affected equipment. The park has since reopened for public use.
Baca said the Village is obtaining quotes for replacement equipment. An estimated cost and funding source will be determined once those quotes are received.
The Village said it will continue monitoring McElroy Park and addressing routine maintenance needs as they arise.
