GRANTS N.M. – Sean Lannon is behind bars in New Jersey as he awaits his fate in the murder of a New Jersey man. The 47- year-old was apprehended in St. Louis earlier this month after a manhunt stretching from New Jersey to Missouri ended when he was arrested driving a car stolen from the New Jersey victim. Lannon is accused of breaking into the man’s home and beating him with a blunt object, according to the Associated Press. At this time, Lannon has only been charged in the murder of a New Jersey man, and a New Jersey judge has ruled to keep him behind bars.

According to stories printed on the world wide web, “Authorities said in court documents that Lannon made the admission in a phone call to a relative, who told investigators he expressed remorse. He has been named a person of interest in the four New Mexico slayings.”

According to recent reports posted on the internet, Lannon stated that he was sexually abused as a child by the man he killed in New Jersey. Lannon also claimed to have killed a total of 16 people, four of whom were the individuals that were found at the Albuquerque Sunport on March 5, and 11 others that Lannon described as drug dealers.

Lt. David Chavez, Grants Police Department, said there is no indication that Lannon’s claims are true since they do not have any missing persons or unsolved homicides identified within GPD jurisdiction.

“Is it possible? Sure, anything is possible. Is it plausible?” Chavez said. “Now that Lannon is in custody, we have time to make sure we dot all our ‘i’s’ and cross all our ‘t’s’. We have time to make sure we have a solid case that can be presented properly.”

Lannon must also face charges about his involvement in the New Mexico slayings of the four individuals found at the Sunport.

“We are still doing our investigation. We are looking into the allegations that he has killed other people. We need to verify or clarify that he either did or didn’t kill anyone else before we discount that,” Lt. Chavez said. “We are also serving warrants for evidentiary value.”

The Grants police department is still looking for Daniel Lemos in connection with this case.

“We’re still looking for him,” Lt. Chavez said. “He is a ghost. If he is around this area, then he’s hiding pretty dang well.”

Chavez said Lemos is considered armed and dangerous but added that the police department does not believe that Lemos is actively out looking for anyone to harm.

“I think he [Lemos] is under the impression that we are not going to listen to him,” Chavez said. “That’s far from the truth; we want to hear his side of the story.”

Lt. Chavez encouraged anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Daniel Lemos to contact GPD.
