NMDOT asks all motorists to reduce speed, obey all posted traffic signs, use caution, and watch for heavy equipment and construction personnel in all work zones. PLEASE NOTE: Conditions are subject to change without notice. Double fines for speeding in work zones in effect.

Interstate: During backups, use both lanes and take turns merging. Watch for slow moving or stopped traffic. Allow extra time and expect delays.

I-40, mile marker 8.200 – 131.00, west of Gallup to To’hajiilee

J-H Supply (Contractor) continues installation of new metal guardrail/concrete wall barrier. East and westbound right lane closures between mile markers 10-12 (west of Gallup). Speed reduced to 55 mph through the work zone. A 12’ width restriction is in place. The contractor’s work hours are 7 am to 5 pm, Monday-Friday.

I-40, mile marker 40.000 – 105.500, east of Ciniza Refinery to east of Cubero

J-H Supply (Contractor) will begin installation of new metal guardrail in early July. Replacement and upgrade is necessary to bring roadside barriers to new standards.

I-40, mile marker 17.100 – 40.000, west of Gallup to east of Ciniza Refinery

Valley Fence Company (Contractor) continues installation of new metal guardrail/concrete wall barrier. Westbound right lane closures from mile markers 30-31 and eastbound left lane from mile markers 20-22 (Gallup). Speed reduced to 55 mph through the work zone. The contractor’s work hours are 7 am to 5 pm, Monday-Friday.

I-40, mile marker 111.043 – 117.000, west of Laguna to Mesita

Mountain States Constructors, Inc. (Contractor) continues roadway reconstruction, ramp rehabilitation and bridge rehabilitation work. Eastbound traffic diverted onto the westbound passing lane via median crossover detour. Eastbound on and off ramps are closed at Exit 114 (Laguna). Follow detour for ramp closures. Lane closures and traffic control shall remain in place 24 hours a day 7 days a week. A 12’ width restriction is in place. Speed reduced to 55 mph through the work zone. The contractor’s work hours are 7 am to 6 pm, Monday-Friday.

I-40, mile marker 37.700 – 40.300, (Phase III) Ciniza Refinery, east of Gallup

FNF Construction Inc. (Contractor) continues roadway reconstruction and extending concrete box culverts. Westbound traffic diverted onto the eastbound passing lane via median crossover detour. An 11’ width restriction is in place. On June 23-24-25, traffic over the bridge will be reduced to one lane in both directions with flagger operations. On or about July 5, traffic will be shifted to the new westbound lanes. Speed reduced to 55 mph through the work zone. Lane closures and traffic control shall remain in place 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The contractor’s work hours are 7 am to 5 pm, Monday-Friday.

I-40, mile marker 57.393 – 60.461, between Prewitt and Thoreau

FNF Construction Inc. (Contractor) continues roadway reconstruction work. Eastbound traffic diverted onto the westbound passing lane via median crossover detour. Speed reduced to 55 mph through the work zone. A 12’ width restriction is in place. Lane closures and traffic control shall remain in place 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The contractor’s work hours are 7 am to 5 pm, Monday-Friday.

I-40, mile marker 3.250 – 3.380, Manuelito Rest Area

Meridian Contracting, Inc. (Contractor) continues replacement of the sewer system. The rest area will remain closed. All eastbound traffic may use facilities in Gallup at Exits 16, 20, 22 and 26. There are no impacts to I-40.

I-40, mile marker 44, Coolidge Interchange

El Terrero Construction, LLC (Contractor) will begin roadway & ramp reconstruction and bridge replacement in August. Currently there are no impacts to traffic.

US Roadways:

US 491, mile marker 40.500 – 42.000, Naschitti

Bixby Electric, Inc. (Contractor) continues work on lighting until project is complete. Currently there are no impacts to traffic.

US 491, mile marker 61.760 – 68.106, Newcomb to Sanostee

Fisher Sand & Gravel (Contractor) continues roadway rehabilitation work. Northbound traffic diverted onto the southbound passing lane via median crossover detour. Speed reduced to 55 mph through the work zone. An 11’ width restriction is in place. The contractor’s work hours are 7 am to 5 pm, Monday-Friday. Lane closures and traffic control shall remain in place 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

US 491/Carbon Coal Road Intersection, City of Gallup

Fisher Sand & Gravel (Contractor) continues roadway reconstruction & rehabilitation and lighting & signalization work. The contractor will begin construction activities on the new roadway between South Chino Loop and Mentmore Rd. until late October. NO PUBLIC ACCESS to the construction area. The contractor’s work hours are 7 am to 5 pm, Monday-Friday.

State Roadways:

NM 4, mile marker 18.500 – 19.000, north of Jemez Springs

Structures Inc. (Contractor) will resume bridge replacement and roadway reconstruction. The contractor continues minor work off the roadway and shoulder work. Watch for flag personnel.

NM 53, mile marker 82.250 – 85.900, Exit 85 at Grants

El Terrero Construction, LLC (Contractor) has begun Bridge Rehabilitation and Roadway Rehabilitation work. NM 53 will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Passing lanes will be closed in each direction. The contractor’s work hours will be 7 am to 5 pm, Monday-Friday.

NEW NM 117, mile marker 57 - 61, Skyway to Grants

NMDOT will complete paving operations on NM 117 on June 30. There will be one lane of traffic in both directions. A pilot vehicle will guide traffic through the work zone. Speed reduced in the work zone. Work hours are 7 am to 7 pm, Monday-Friday.
