New Mexico State University-Grants Holds Recognition Ceremony for School of Nursing Graduates

  • NMSU-Grants held a recognition ceremony for two graduates from the school of nursing. Brianne Chavez and Britanny Gutierrez both graduated with Bachelor of Science degrees in Nursing. During the recognition ceremony both graduates were also pinned signifying the completion of their level of education and official initiation into the profession of nursing.

GRANTS, NM – On December 7, NMSU-Grants held a recognition ceremony for school of nursing graduates. Brianne Chavez and Kimberly Gutierrez both graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. The ceremony also including a pinning which signifies the completion of their level of education and official initiation into the profession of nursing.

Gutierrez was pinned by her mother Brooke Haynes who is a registered nurse. Gutierrez wrote a small message thanking those who have helped her through school and be able to graduate, “Thank you to… My dad in heaven, I know you would be proud of me. I miss you. My mom, you taught me how to work hard and never give up. My husband, I couldn’t have done this without. I appreciate you. My two kids, you are my motivation. Everything I do is for you. I love you with my whole heart.” Gutierrez graduates the nursing program as a Crimson Scholar and also received the Clinical Excellence award at the ceremony.

Chavez was pinned by her daughter Leah Vicente and Henry Vicente. Chavez wrote a small message thanking those who have helped her through school and be able to graduate, “Thank you to everyone who has stood at my side throughout this crazy journey called nursing school. I am very grateful for your support and words of encourage. You are a huge part of my success!”

Following the pinning ceremony, the new graduates recited the professional nursing pledge:

In the full knowledge of the responsibilities I am undertaking, I promise to care for my clients with all the knowledge, skills, and understanding I possess without regard to race, color, creed, politics, social status, sparing no effort to conserve meaningful life, to alleviate suffering, and promote health.

I will respect, at all times, the dignity and religious beliefs of the patients under my care and hold in professional confidence all personal information entrusted to me. I will refrain from any action which might endanger the quality of life or health.

I will endeavor to keep my professional knowledge and skill at the highest level and to give my support and cooperation to all members of the health team.

With full awareness of my qualifications and limitations, I will do my utmost to maximize the potential of the nursing profession and to uphold and advance its standards.
