MILAN, N.M. – Roadwork on NM 6 east of Highland Meadows has been completed, the New Mexico Department of Transportation confirmed Thursday.
NMDOT District Six Public Information Officer Jenny Gallegos confirmed Sept. 17 that the roadway preservation project is finished.
Work began Aug. 31 and included the application of a rubberized fog seal to both directions of NM 6 between mile markers 0 and 18. The treatment was intended to preserve and protect the existing pavement.
The project had originally been scheduled to continue through the end of September, weather permitting.
The completion removes the flagger and pilotcar operations associated with the project along the 18-mile stretch of highway, an important connection for Cibola County motorists traveling between Interstate 40 and the Los Lunas area.
