New Mexico’s five electors officially cast their votes for President-elect Joe Biden today, reflecting the popular vote in New Mexico, which Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won by over 10 points. Today’s vote officially awards New Mexico’s five electoral votes to Presidentelect Biden.
The votes were cast by New Mexicans elected to serve as presidential electors by the Democratic Party of New Mexico post-primary convention. Electors included representatives from Chaves, Curry, Sandoval, San Miguel, and Valencia counties who represented the diversity of our party and our state.
“Thank you to these in credible Democrats who came from across the state to participate in our democracy and represent the will of the voters,” said DPNM Chair Marg Elliston.“This November New Mexicans sent a clear message that we’re looking for a leader who will restore the soul of our nation and bring us together to address the challenges we’re facing. Today we saw that goal realized as our electors awarded our votes to President-elect Joe Biden.”
