It has been an unforgettable year fighting for the people of the Second District. Through all the hard work and Washington politics, my favorite experience has been connecting with the amazing patriotic men and women who call New Mexico home, and who make America the greatest country on earth.
I'm proud to say that my office responded by mail to 35,000 constituent requests, as well as countless phone calls, emails, and other communications in 2021. This year, our talented Second District staff completely cleared all casework for constituents. If you have a request or problem we can help with, please let us know. We're ready to hit the ground running in 2022. This year I had the honor of meeting with many ambassadors, dignitaries and industry leaders to find solutions to our border crisis and develop policies that would build American prosperity.
In fact, every day has been an adventure, whether speaking to interns from the Pro-Life Susan B. Anthony List, participating in a Congressional Delegation with fellow members of the Natural Resources Committee to Pennsylvania, preparing for TV interviews, or leading GOP press conferences in the Capitol Building. In the last year I have been honored to meet with so many brave members of our armed forces, veterans, police, and first responders who keep us safe, and finding new ways to help the courageous men and women who serve and protect us every day.
My two biggest priorities are protecting our southern border and defending American energy and the hundreds of thousands of jobs that it supports. I've been thrilled to meet so many people in the last year who share this commitment.
I hosted two congressional delegations to New Mexico--one to the border for members of the Oversight Committee, and another for members of the Natural Resources Committee to learn about our conservation and development efforts.
The Washington Swamp might be a tough place to find honest folks, but I'm proud to be fighting for freedom alongside people like GOP Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana and Leader Kevin McCarthy of California. We're working together to advance a legislative agenda that benefits all Americans, especially working families who have been left behind by Washington for too long.
