GRANTS, NM - At the Special School Board Meeting on March 29, the board continued its discussion with superintendent search consultants Tom Sullivan and Dr. Linda Paul, to finalize the Superintendent Search Plan. This plan includes the timeline, minimum qualifications, desirable characteristics, advertising, screening, background checks, staff and community engagement, interviewing selection, and salary range.

Once the plan is finalized it will be turned into a brochure so that during advertising it can be given to any applicants who are interested in the superintendent position.

The screening for applicants will be May 2. Interviews for the chosen applicants will take place on May 23, with the help of three committees. There is a possibility of the final decision taking place on May 24.

The first minimum qualification is that the candidate must have a minimum of two years of experience as a district level administrator or as a principal. The second minimum qualification is experience in instruction. The third minimum qualification is experience in a diverse multicultural setting. The salary range will be between 140 to 150 thousand dollars. The motion to include everything discussed in the superintendent search was fully approved by the board.

The next part of the meeting was a presentation for the Step By Step Budget Building Process.

The Spring Budget Workshop will take place April 11-13. On April 18 the Budget will then go to the Board for approval. The budget is due to the PED by April 20.
