How often do we audit our words? How often are we aware the effect our speech has on the people and things around us? Our creator made everything with the power of his words. It is likely why he doesn’t speak directly to those on Earth but let’s the Holy Spirit and Angels speak on his behalf. When he speaks it’s as thunder, and mountains quake. When he speaks things come to life or things are put to death.
As creatures made in his image, we have just a glimmer of that power. Our words can heal or hurt, uplift or tear-down, build or destroy, command or question. How strange that we can control our animals by the utterances from our mouths. How awesome that we can impart knowledge through speech. How terrible that we can ruin a reputation or end a life by the carelessness of our words.
I leave you with this: Have self-control with the things we say to each other, and have patience with each other’s understanding. Be kind with our thoughts, and gentle with our delivery. Bring peace when there is ruin in our lives, and tell the good news when bad things happen. Share our love with one another, and be happy that we can share this life together. Have faith in each other, and we will build a better world.
