TO’HAJIILEE, N.M. – Community members gathered at To’Hajiilee Community School over several days last week to fill and stack sandbags intended to protect the campus from additional flooding.
The school began calling for volunteers Sept. 16, asking participants to bring shovels and work gloves. Sandbagging continued throughout the week, with another volunteer workday announced for Sept. 21.
“To¬gether, we are stronger,” school officials wrote in thanking those who participated. “Thank you for showing what it means to be a true To’Hajiilee Warrior.”
Photos shared by the school show students, families, staff and other community members working together to fill bags and prepare the campus for further rainfall.
