WASHINGTON, DC-Rep. Xochitl Torres Small (NM-0 2 ) voted to successfully override the President's veto of the FY2021 National Defense Authorization Act in the House. The legislation was expected to pass the Senate on Tuesday.

"Tonight, I'm proud to join my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to stand up for our service members, protect our national security, and support military installations in New Mexico and worldwide. Our national security is not up for partisan games and it is Congress's duty to protect those putting their lives on the line each day for our country. This legislation is a result of bipartisan, months-long negotiations and T urge my colleagues in the Senate to follow the House's lead and swiftly override this veto tomorrow," said Torres Small, member of House Armed Services Committee.

Prior to the legislation's passage, Torres Small was named as a FY2021 National Defense Authorization Act conferee following a nomination from the House Homeland Security Committee to the conference committee.
