Train Strikes Truck Near Diamond G

GRANTS, NM – On November 22, 2023, at approximately 6:05 p.m. Grants Fire and Rescue was dispatched to El Morro Road and West Santa Fe Avenue in the City of Grants, New Mexico, for a reported accident involving a train and a passenger vehicle.

Grants Police Department said the truck appeared to have stalled and was partially stuck on the train tracks. The passengers had all exited the vehicle at the time of the collision. According to GPD, passengers were trying to get items out of the back of the truck when the train struck the truck. The driver of the vehicle sustained injuries, Grants Fire and Rescue along with Superior Ambulance gave medical attention to the driver of the vehicle. The driver was air lifted from the scene and transported to Albuquerque for further medical treatment and is said to be doing fine.
