Village of Milan Awarded Most Improved Audit for Fiscal Year 2022

Arieanna Crowson, Reporter MILAN, NM – On February 8, the Village of Milan was invited to receive an award for most improved Audit for Fiscal Year 2022 from the New Mexico State Auditor. The Village of Milan improved from a qualified opinion in fiscal year 2020 to an unmodified clean opinion in fiscal year 2022. The village improved their audit in fiscal year 2020 which had eight findings to zero findings in fiscal year 2022.

Mayor Felix Gonzales said, “We are so proud of this… At the Village of Milan, we consider ourselves la familia… If it wasn’t for all of our employees we wouldn’t be standing here today. From the bottom of my heart all the employees, thank you very much. And thank [Finance Director/Interim Manager Candi Williams] because she does all the work, we take the credit but she does all the work.” Check next week edition for a more in depth look into this award.
