Arieanna Crowson, Reporter MILAN, NM – On January 2, the Village of Milan held their swearing in ceremony and organizational meeting follow the 2023 elections. Three individuals were sworn into positions at the Village of Milan. For the position of Municipal Judge Willie Jaramillo was reelected.

Roseanne Lopez was reelected for the position of Board Trustee.

Monica Sandoval was elected for her first term in the position of Board Trustee.

Following the swearing in ceremony, the board held their organizational meeting to appoint individuals to positions and trustees to boards. Trustee James Mercer was appointed as Mayor Pro Tem, which means that Mercer will be able to fill in for Mayor Felix Gonzales if he is unavailable.

Candi Williams was reappointed to continue serving as the interim Village of Milan Manager.

Denise Baca was reappointed as Village Clerk. Carl Ustupski was reappointed as the Police Chief for Milan Police Department and Daniel Urioste was reappointed as Fire Chief for the Milan Volunteer Fire Department.

Trustees were appointed to be representatives for the local boards. Trustee Chris Archuleta and Trustee Sandoval were appointed to the Northwest Regional Solid Waste Authority Board. Trustee Archuleta and Trustee Sandoval were also appointed to the Rockin’ 66 Transit board. Trustee Mercer was appointed as the voting delegate for the Council of Governments board with Trustee Lopez as the alternate and Trustee Lopez was appointed as the voting delegate for the Cibola Communities Economic Development Board with Trustee Mercer as the alternate.
