GRANTS, NM Cannabis is legal in New Mexico for medicinal and adult use. Because of this, the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department's Cannabis Control Division has started an advertising campaign focused on the safe use and handling of cannabis products. The goal of their campaign is to teach the public the rules, how to buy cannabis, what safe consumption is, and what is still against the law. Through these topics they will focus on teaching the general public how much is safe to use, places where cannabis is allowed to be used, and mindful storage when around children and pets.
Regulation and Licensing Department Superintendent Linda Trujillo stated that 'The Cannabis Control Division is committed to being a helpful ally in the New Mexico cannabis market. We recognize the need for education in this new cannabis industry.'
Another large part of the campaign is focused on the effects of cannabis on people while driving and how to use it responsibly in everyday life. Their goal is to educate people on the subject as much as possible in order to prevent spreading misinformation and to help the public use cannabis responsibly. They plan for the campaign to be advertised online as well as on other resources such as television, radio, and printed ads.
