8th Annual Mt. Taylor Vintage Bronco Round-up

Body

GRANTS, N.M. - This past Saturday, October 4th, we kicked off our 8th Annual Ford Bronco roundup starting at Ed Corley Ford here in Grants. Owner Stacie Corley as well as sales representatives (and sisters) Fay and Florence along with events coordinator Teri Jaramillo welcomed the Bronco enthusiasts and invited all for a free donut and cup of coffee to start the day.

After a brief wait and only three Broncos showing up we decided that with all this week-end’s events going on, we would start ours. The Ford Broncos aged from 1972 through 1989. We lined the three Broncos up in front of the dealership for the annual photo op. Pat Gallegos received “Best Bronco” with his restored 1973 and was awarded a prize. He then left for a prior commitment. Bill Barnes received a Bronco hat for newest Bronco; Evelyn and I were awarded a pair of Ford Bronco ball caps for having the oldest Bronco, these prizes were from Ed Corley Ford.

Bill Barnes and his wife Ina Jean would compete with Evelyn and me for the rest of the coveted prizes.

Evelyn then started the event by handing out game score cards for the poker run and dice toss, and 3” foam dice to the participants that had B...R...O....N...C…O.. one letter on each face, that would be rolled at each of four stops during the cruise up the majestic Mt. Taylor- La Mosca. On to the cloud covered mountain in the cool mid-morning weather, stopping a couple times for dice toss and card draws. Then we plodded up the rocky road through the beautiful orange- yellow fall color adorned trees to the La Mosca –Mt Taylor saddle area where we rolled dice and drew a card.

We headed back to Corley’s dealership for a delicious courtesy lunch of burgers and hot dogs.

We continued to finish the games including “Unscramble Words” sponsored by Chris Winch State Farm about Ford’s horses: otipn…rocbno…utngmsa”, where Ina Jean won this game. Poker hand was sponsored by Tom’s Off Road in Medford, Oregon won by Evelyn; and Bill won BRONCO dice toss and was awarded a prize from Ed Corley Ford.

During lunch chef Teri introduced us to a customer that had recently purchased a new Bronco who then joined us for lunch. We gave her this year’s event sticker and talked of next year’s event.

We finished the day with picture taking of the Broncos and participants and discussed next year’s round-up. Thank you to Ed Corley Ford team for your support.
