Grants, NM – Join Southwestern Puebloan carver Ray Jose for a presentation on “Warrior Mouse, Legend of a Hero” at El Malpais National Monument, at 1 pm on Saturday, February 25, 2023.
Ray will tell the story of Warrior Mouse and how it inspired his carving of the hero. He has used the Rio Grande River driftwood for over 40 years for his art. The encouragement to pursue creating his sculptures comes from the prestigious collectors and galleries sharing his creations with the world. “I create to tell stories, to share not only my talents, but my culture as well.”
This is the third of four installments of El Malpais National Monument monthly Winter Storytelling Series. Sculptor Walter Torres will wrap up the series on March 11, 2023.
Come out and listen to Ray at this free event on Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 1-2 pm, at the El Malpais Visitor Center located at 1900 East Santa Fe Avenue in Grants, New Mexico.
