October 13 Free Music Lesson
This Friday the 13th, at 4 p.m., the DVD music lessons is titled, “Happy Birthday Igor Stravinsky”. This Russian is considered one of the greatest modern composers. He wrote, “Firebird”, “Petrouchka”, and “The Rite of Spring”. Let’s learn and enjoy music together at the Double Six Art Gallery, 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave, Route 66.
October 21 Free Opera – “La Bohme” Pizza isn’t the only gift the Italians gave the world! There’s also opera (drama through music)! “La Boheme” was composed by Italy’s G. Presentation on Fluorspar Mining Cibola County History Museum, 525 West High St., will host Nestor Griego, presenting History of Fluorspar Mining in the Zuni Mountains. Program starts at 2 PM. November 3 Blood Donation Drive at GHS The Grants High School Anchors Club Fall Blood Drive will be November 3 in the Old Gym, 500 Mountain Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
November 4 Free Movie – “The Agony and the Ecstasy” Did you know Michelangelo’s Architectural designs were influential throughout Italy, France, and England? He is considered the greatest artistic genius of the Renaissance. The film, “The Agony and the Ecstasy” will show Saturday, November 4 in the Double Six Art Gallery on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave. Time – 11 a.m. Art and movies – a good combination.
November 18 Free Movie – “The Monuments Men” Cibola County is the home of many artists. Preserving art teaches us about an individual, a culture, and/or a country. “The Monuments Men” is about arts and heritage perseveration during WWII. The film will be shown Saturday, November 18 at 11 a.m. in the Double Six Art Gallery on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave. The arts are for EVERYONE!
