Heather Porter Dear Grants/Cibola County Chamber of Commerce Members, I would like to take a moment to introduce myself as the new Chamber Board President. My position started 7/1/24 and will end on 6/31/25. Throughout this term, I commit to improving commerce for all. Your ideas and suggestions are always welcome for board discussion.

This last year has seen many changes with the Chamber of Commerce. Most importantly, Les Gaines has graciously agreed to take the position as Executive Director. He is AMAZING! He has fresh ideas, motivation, and community at heart. He represents our Mission and Values in every way.

We have big plans for the Chamber of Commerce moving forward. Starting with the luncheons. As you may have seen in your emails, the first one is scheduled for 8/8/24. The next one will be the Future of Mining in Cibola County, sometime in September/October. We encourage your attendance so we can all share in community awareness.

In September, we are coordinating our annual Rugged West Event with Cibola Trail Days and the Tour de Acoma. What a great way for all the nonprofit, outdoor activities to work together for a common cause!

Our website is still a work in progress but getting there! Our plan is to improve our social media presence to be more effective. More specifically, showcasing all of YOU!

Whether you are a new member, or a longstanding one, it is important to know that we appreciate you and your efforts in making our community a better place to live by supporting local commerce. Whether you’re an individual, online business, or large business, it takes every single one of us to make our home a better place to be!

As a board, the Chamber would love to hear from you. Your ideas and suggestions are always welcome! Whether you call on Les, or anyone of us, our doors are always open! This includes board meetings, happening on the Third Tuesday of every month! We are working on a plan to visit with the businesses soon. We are excited to work with you and for you in the coming fiscal year.

Sincerely, Heather Porter, Grants/Cibola County Chamber President
