Double Six Art Gallery Celebrates Culture

Bayanihan Night is a vibrant celebration of the Grants Filipino community, held at the Cibola Arts Council, Double Six Gallery.

This event beautifully showcases culture, unity, and pride.

The evening began with prayer, followed by the national anthem, warm welcome messages, and expressions of gratitude.

The organizer said “Let this evening reflect the pride and spirit of the Philippines.' The audience was reminded of the importance of unity and understanding amidst the celebration. Following this introduction, the President of the Filipino-American Federation in New Mexico, was welcomed to the stage with a round of applause. She expressed gratitude to the Cibola Arts Council and the Grants Filipino community for organizing such a significant event, the declared 'Tonight is a celebration of our shared heritage, unity, and vibrancy.”

Ms. Pacheco elaborated on the meaning of 'Bayanihan,' emphasizing how it represents the essence of being Filipino—a community that comes together in both times of need and celebration. 'Whether it’s helping a neighbor or organizing an event like tonight, bayanihan reminds us of our collective strength.”

The festivities kicked off with lively ethnic dances featuring performers wearing colorful traditional attire. This was followed by a beautiful serenade.

The first fashion show paraded stunning traditional Philippine garments, allowing attendees to appreciate the beauty of Filipino heritage.

The Bayanihan Band then took to the stage, with original Pilipino music, setting a good tone for the rest of the evening.

A second fashion show highlighted festival costumes, celebrating the diversity of Filipino culture.

The Bayanihan choir performed patriotic songs that resonated with national pride. The event wrapped up with casting acknowledgments from the organizer and a closing dance involving all the performers, creating a lively and unifying finale.

Afterward, there was dinner accompanied by a band playing music, along with time for socializing.
