Alfonso Pilar Anzures 94 years, 6/10/1929 – 4/3/2024 has been summoned home to his Lord Jesus Christ.

He was born in Seboyeta, N.M., and Graduated from Menaul High School in Albuquerque NM. In 1949, he traveled from Seboyeta with his best friend, Orlando Marquez to Williams, AZ to find work with the railroad. They stayed with Orlando’s aunt, Prudencia Marquez, where he met his future wife Ida Wallace of Williams, AZ.

After a few months working for the railroad, he and his friend decided to join the army, where he served three years in the Korean War as a Sergeant as a frontline medic earning the Bronze Star. As he finished his tour in the service, he went to a meat cutting school in Ohio to become a butcher. As he finished school, he returned to Williams to ask Ida Wallace for her hand in marriage, they married on June 9, 1954.

They produced four daughters, Nadine, Priscilla (deceased), Sylvia, and Rhoda. He moved his family from Williams to Grants in 1960 to look for work. He worked as a butcher at Day and Night, Sturges Market, Batie’s Food in the Grants/Milan area until he began his career in the uranium industry in 1964 that spanned over 20 years. As the mining industry started to faulter, he moved to Albuquerque in 1981, commuting to finish the last couple of years in the mining industry as it was winding down. He became a mail runner for Wells Fargo Bank until he decided to completely retire at the age of 84 years old. He enjoyed the final years at his home in Albuquerque under the care of his youngest daughter Rhoda while facing the Sandia mts. watching the ballon fiesta and the 4th of July fireworks from his back yard. He loved being around his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was most proud of his daughters and would brag that they raised him right as he loved rock and roll. His favorite groups were Scorpion, Metallica, Def Leppard, Goo Goo Dolls, Rolling Stones, and ZZ Top.

He is survived by three daughters: Nadine Brodd (Mike) of Albuquerque, NM, Sylvia Anzures Gonzales (Patrick) of Grants, NM and Rhoda Anzures of Albuquerque, NM., eleven grandchildren, twenty eight great-grandchildren, five great great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Cleofis and Lupita Garcia Anzures; brothers: Tom Anzures, Steve Anzures; sisters: Eva Glorioso, Rupita Torres and Annie Torres; daughter: Priscilla Anzures; ex-wife: Ida Andrews.

Cremation will take place. Services will be April 19, 2024, at 10 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Seboyeta, NM. Burial of the ashes immediately after services at the Seboyeta Cemetery. Reception to follow at the Seboyeta Community Center.
