David Lee Baisden (70) was born in Kessler, West Virginia on April 20, 1953, to Marie Frances Coy and Clifford Baisden. He moved to Milan, New Mexico when he was five. He graduated a year early in 1971 from Grants High School with track and field honors. He then joined the United States Army, where he served in Germany as a welder and mechanic for three years. Upon returning to the States, he met the love of his life, Cheri Jeanne Hemperley. They wed on December 26, 1980. They welcomed their four beloved children over the next eight years as they worked on their Baisden Mountain Dream. He hauled water for his family for thirteen years until the dream of a well was fulfilled in 1993.

David was a lifelong welder, mechanic, and tinkerer. He provided for his family with endless perseverance even wading through raging flood waters every monsoon season to hitch a ride to work wet and cold. He was a hard worker from early dawn to well past dark, even in the cold as he wore his famous overalls, welder cap, and boots. He was a prankster often having water wars with his wife and kids. The most famous war was the time he brought the water hose into the house! He loved hiking and adventuring and had many four-legged companions. David’s pride and joy was his kids and grandkids, they were his motivation to keep expanding and perfecting the Baisden Mountain Dream.

David went to be with the Lord on April 2, 2024, surrounded by his family.

David is survived by his loving wife, Cheri Jeanne of 43 years. His four children Kristy Jeanne and William Ward, Jeremiah and Ronalda Baisden, Bonnie Jeanne and Randy Gifford, and Isaiah Baisden.
