On the evening of January 13, 2021, Dora J. McBride, beloved mother, devoted sister, and precious Nana left this Earth, carrying a bit of our hearts with her. She was surrounded by her children and the love of family. Born August 29, 1934, in St. Johns Arizona, Dora spent her life working to provide every opportunity and necessity for her children and grandchildren. Though she worked her fmgers to the bone, she never complained and could always be heard singing. Mom’s family gatherings were always bursting at the seams with love, laughter, and joy. Her home was small and her family large, but everyone fit, feasted, and was loved. No one could compliment something she owned or wore because her generous heart would immediately give it to them. She instilled in her family the importance of hard work, faith, and love of family. Dora was a humble woman of modest means; however, she would tell anyone who asked, that she was the richest, most blessed person on earth. Her wealth was measured in her children and her many treasures were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dora was preceded in death by her parents, Tranquilino and Josefita Padilla; sister, Ruth Padilla; brothers, Joseph and Miguel Padilla; husband, Sikey McBride; and daughter, Kathleen Sue Baker.

Left to honor Dora and remember her love are her daughters, Gloria Chavez (husband Jay), Roseanne Sanchez (husband Matt), Josette Marquez (husband Victor), Michelle Lucero (husband Robert), Ramona Maslowski (husband Gabriel); son, Marty McBride (wife Andrea); son-in-law, Albert Baker; and her 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her oldest brother Tranquilino G. Padilla, Jr. and many nieces and nephews.

The legacy of our mother, our Nana, is that devotion to family and faith always come first and will carry you through every obstacle and strife with hope and grace. Dora McBride was rich indeed and her love will extend beyond this world and remain in the hearts of everyone who loves her.

Due to current health restrictions, our mother and Nana will be laid to rest in a simple graveside service. A celebration of life will be planned once it is safe for her family and friends to travel, gather, and embrace. Until then, she will be forever remembered, forever missed, and forever loved.
