Dorothy Davis Gholson

Dorothy Davis Gholson age 90, passed away peacefully at her home in Grants, New Mexico where she had resided in the same home since 1957.

Dorothy was born in Lone Pine, California. She lived in a mining town in Darwin, California with her mother and three sisters and brother, until at the age of 11 she went to Sherman, California to attend boarding school. After returning from boarding school she went back to Darwin, California where she met and married Robert Gholson.

Dorothy and her husband moved to Grants, New Mexico in 1957 with their four oldest children. She had two more children, a son and daughter.

Preceded in death by her daughter Marilyn Mayfarth and her son Jack Gholson. She is survived in death by three sons; Robert Gholson, his wife Pamela Gholson (from South Dakota) Doug Gholson, his wife Marcia Gholson (from Texas) and George Gholson, his wife Denise Gholson (from Nevada) and by her youngest daughter Stacey Rucki, her husband Steve Rucki (from Wyoming) she has twenty grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Dorothy embraced her role of homemaker and was a very kind, loving and gentle woman who loved her family above everything but her deep faith in God. She was the strongest “Prayer Woman” you could ever meet. Her family depended upon her great love and prayers.

She was always ready to help. If there were those in need she didn’t hesitate to extend her hand, car, clothes, food whatever was necessary along with a mighty helping of the “The Lord’s Strong Arm”.

She was one of the ditziest people you could be around. She was quite naive in her viewpoint of the world but not stupid. She had a contagious laugh and would laugh so hard it would bring tears to her eyes, especially when she was with her family reminiscing.

A deep void has been left here on earth, but one of the rocks that will be forever placed on our hearts and in our minds is the life of Dorothy Davis Gholson. You are loved.
