The Orr Family is sad to announce the passing of Frank Graydon Orr on November 18, 2023, at Presbyterian Hospital on Central in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Frank was born July 25, 1946, in Asheville, North Carolina. Being an Army kid, Frank moved around a lot. Some of his favorite memories were playing Center for Cole High School in San Antonio, where he always bragged about doing deep snaps to the kicker. He graduated from Sonora Union High School in Sonora, California in 1964 and shortly after joined the Army.

He was honorably discharged in November of 1967. He lived in Albuquerque during the 70s and early 80s and worked as a bouncer at the Caravan East, he ensured that certain female patrons always made it home safely. He was such a gentleman he helped “tuck” them into bed. He always enjoyed music and oldie western dancing and of course the company of beautiful women.

He decided to pursue his passion of barbering and enrolled in the Lewis Barber College in San Antonio Texas and graduated as one of the top students in his class. In 1982 Frank decided to plant his roots in Grants, New Mexico, where he opened Frank’s Barber Shop. He was the owner of Frank's Barber Shop for 30 years and in that time, he had given many of his customers their first haircuts, became a household name and made many friends along the way. Frank was very charismatic and always had a “Conway Twitty” attitude. In his leisure time he enjoyed reading, going to the horse races, watching football, or betting on sports. Frank was always quick with a dirty joke or a funny story of something that happened to him or “a buddy of his”.

He is survived in death by his brother: Carl (wife Alma); nephew: John (wife Ty); and great nephew: Augustine.

There will be plenty of great stories to tell at his celebration of life at Surf Shack Pizza, on Saturday December 9 from 11am-1pm. Close family and friends are welcome to come by for some good food and a good time.
