Lena O. Chavez

Lena O. Chavez passed away on July 7, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 99 years of age. She was born on June 7, 1924, in Cubero, New Mexico.

Mrs. Chavez was a devoted member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. She had many hobbies including gardening, crocheting, and sewing her own clothes but will best be remembered for the treasured time she spent with her family. She was deeply loved and will be missed.

She is survived by her daughter; Beatrice Chavez Sprunk. 6 grandchildren; Walter Jaramillo (Romie), Wanda Rivers, Wilma White (Shane), Christopher Chavez (Kim), Christina Wilson and Lawrence Chavez. Twenty-two great-grandchildren; TW Jaramillo (Shandy), Reyes Jaramillo (Lacy), Timmy Jaramillo (Misty), Rosendo Jaramillo, Robert Ray Jaramillo (Jill) Danelle Mirabal, Dominic Mirabal (Reyna), Santana Macias (Bobby), Christopher Chavez (Page), Katana Chavez, Katyln Chavez, Madison Chavez, Isabella Chavez, Kyle Henderson, Megan Henderson, Evan Henderson, Justin Wilson (Itzel), Jared Wilson, Jeremy Wilson, Joshua Wilson (Dakota), Jacob Wilson, and Brittney Torres. Along with twenty-two great-great grandchildren, Isaac, Ryleigh, Carter, Noah, Maci, Luke, Clementine, Kaleb, Karlee, Kingston, Isabel, Dominic, Aaliyiah, Alice, William, Liam, Emily, Carson, Braxton, Blair, Gilberto, and Amelia.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Reyes Chavez on January 6, 1999. Her parents; Candido Otero and Elisa Arviso Otero. Her children; Fedencio Chavez, and Margaret Chavez. Her siblings; Eddie Otero, Elsie Romero, Josie Gonzales, Lessie Torrez, and Bennie Otero. A great-granddaughter; Richanda Jaramillo. And her son-in law: Leo Sprunk.

On Monday July 17, 2023, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church a Rosary will be recited at 10:30 AM. A Mass will be celebrated by Father Matther Keller at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow At Grants Memorial Park.

Pallbearers include; TW Jaramillo, Justin Wilson, Chris Chavez, Robert Ray Jaramillo, Santana Macias, and Brittany Chavez.

Honorary Pallbearers include; Walter Jaramillo, Carla & Terry Dietz, Sylvia & Larry Johnson, Frances & Bernie Chavez, Marlin & Annie Steffani, Christopher Dietz, and Kory Steffani.
