In Loving Memory of Alfredo Eloy Sedillos

Body

Alfredo Eloy Sedillos

On October 15, 2026, the beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Alfredo Eloy Sedillos, peacefully entered eternal rest surrounded by the love and legacy he spent a lifetime building. Born on May 17, 1942, in Las Vegas, New Mexico, Alfredo lived a life marked by hard work, sacrifice, honor, and unwavering devotion to his family.

Alfredo's story was one of determination and perseverance. At 16 years old, he began working with his father-in-law, Tomas Montoya, learning the carpentry skills that became the foundation of a lifelong career. More importantly, Tomas taught him honor, integrity, and pride in craftsmanship, values Alfredo carried with him throughout his life.

He later enlisted in the United States Army with the 7th Infantry and was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany, serving as a Field Communications Crewman with the 11th Engineering Group. During the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962, Alfredo served as a secret message courier during one of the most critical moments in modern history.

Following his military service, Alfredo moved his family to Grand Prairie, Texas, where he helped build the tail sections of Boeing 747 aircraft. Returning to New Mexico, he worked for Grady Construction building homes before joining Kerr-McGee in Grants, New Mexico. He later relocated with North American Chemical to Trona, California, where he continued his career until retirement. After retiring, he returned to Grants to be closer to the family he loved so dearly.

His greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Louella Sedillos; his children Eloy Eric Sedillos, Brenda Marie Rivera, Raul S. Sedillos (Marge), and Christopher M. Sedillos and wife Lisa; his grandchildren Isiah (Kalei), Christopher Joshua (Stephany), Jesse Rivera, Philipe Rivera (Natasha), Andrea Bustos, Latisha Ponce (Daniel), Neika Sedillos, Leon Sedillos, Anthony Sedillos, Ruben Sedillos (Audrey), Chris Sedillos (Tiffany), Sam Sedillos (Ashley); 25 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews; and sister Carol Williams; and very beloved member of the family Leona Sedillos.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Prudencio Sedillos and Emma Moncivaiz; his sister Cleo Gallegos; his twin brother Willie and brother Gene Sedillos; Grandparents Francisco and Carolina Moncivaiz; Grandmothers Sinforosa Solano, and Isabel Sedillos; his father-in-law Tomas Montoya; and his beloved mother-in-law Guadalupe "Pita" Montoya, brother-in-law Henry C. Montoya and son-in- law Wilfred Rivera.

Anyone who knew Alfredo knew there was nowhere he would rather be than with his grandchildren. He loved hunting and fishing with them, sharing stories, teaching lessons, and creating memories that will last for generations. Their laughter brought him joy, and their love filled his heart.
