Randall Edward Thomas
Randall Edward Thomas, lovingly known as Randy, passed away on July 7, 2026. Born on May 4, 1952, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, he was the son of the late DuWayne Earl and Frances “Betty” Elizabeth Thomas. Randy later settled in Milan, New Mexico, building a life defined by service, hard work, humor, and devotion to family.
Randy graduated from Alhambra High School and served four years in the United States Air Force as a Concrete Finishing Specialist. His military service instilled a strong work ethic that guided him throughout his life. Afterwards, Randy embarked on a 30-year career as a semi-truck driver, earning a reputation for reliability and professionalism on local and cross-country routes.
A versatile tradesman skilled in carpentry, welding, and cement finishing, Randy also operated heavy equipment on state construction projects across New Mexico and Arizona. He spent the final seven years of his career at the El Segundo coal mine, retiring in 2016.
Randy married Erlynn LaRae Arp of Grants, sharing 45 years of marriage grounded in laughter and partnership. He was the proud father of two sons, Shannon Randall (wife Amanda) and Brandon Earl (wife Michael), and the cherished grandfather of seven: Andy, Owen, Chryssy, Jaydin, Rylee, Jonah, and Abby. Randy took immense pride in raising capable men and watching his grandchildren grow.
An adventurer at heart, Randy loved fishing, hunting, boating, snowmobiling, leatherworking, and riding his Harley with his brothers. In his youth, he enjoyed racing his 1966 Pontiac Tempest.
Those who knew Randy will remember a practical joker with a dry sense of humor—sweet and ornery in equal measure. Whether recalling childhood pranks or sharing outdoor memories, he filled his family’s lives with unforgettable moments.
Randy is survived by his siblings Ruth, Retha, Robin, Russ, and Roger. He was preceded in death by his brothers Rick, Ron, and Raymond.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, July 24, 2026at Immanuel Baptist Church, 518 Valencia Ave, Milan, N.M., with military honors at 1:30 PM MST. Food and fellowship will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Mexico Wildlife Federation in honor of Randy’s love for the outdoors.
Randy lived boldly, worked hard, and loved deeply. His spirit will live on through those who knew him.
