Thomas E Habiger, 84, of Grants NM passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022 surrounded by his family. He died unexpectedly but peacefully. Thomas was born on September 18, 1937 in Bushton Kansas to Joseph Bernard and Ella Catherine (Schneweis) Habiger. He was preceded in death by his parents: two brothers, F. Joe Habiger and Eugene A. Habiger. Also his two sisters: Margaret Elaine Neeland Sayler and Mary J. Hill.

Thomas graduated high school from Holyrood Kansas in 1955 and began his career in the military. He was a Vietnam veteran, retired military of 20 years and toured 3 years in Vietnam. In 1978 Thomas and his family moved to Grants, from Las Cruces, where he worked for Kerr-McGee mine. In 1982 after the mines closed down he humbled himself and worked for Circle K where he met and would later work for many wonderful people. After several years of working at Circle K, he began to distribute the Albuquerque Journal for Grants. In 1995 Thomas and his wife opened a local printing store called “Habiger's Service Printing”; he would own and operate it until his second retirement of 20 plus years in October 2018.

Thomas enjoyed many things but in particular he enjoyed gardening, reading and had a passion for his faith as a Jehovah Witness. He loved talking to people about the Bible and his hope for the future but he also enjoyed sports, pets and in general giving people a hard time. Thomas had a passion for what was right and lived by that honor every day of his life. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Betty; sons David and Thomas Joseph (Hillary); daughter Catherine; grandchildren Stephanie, Hannah, Joseph and Thomas. He was a deeply loved husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law and uncle and will be missed by many. Arrangements were made by Cope Memorial in Gallup. A memorial will be held Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. via zoom at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
