Twenty-two years ago, on September 11th, multiple commercial airplanes were hijacked by terrorists connected with the Al Qaeda.

At 8:45 a.m. one of the jets crashed into the first of the twin towers, World Trade Center. Several floors were badly affected by the crash, burning near the 80th floor. The 110-story building held around 50,000 people inside who were to evacuate.

Eighteen minutes after the first jet hit the North Tower, a second jet appeared in the sky, heading straight for the second tower. It sliced into the tower around the 60th floor, causing an explosion. Debris flew into the streets of New York, making it clear that America was under attack, it was not just an accident.

In Washington D.C, at 9:45 a.m., the third hijacked jet crashed into the west side of the Pentagon military headquarters, killing around 200 people.

At 10:30 a.m. the World Trade Centers collapsed, first the South then the North. Many blocks were disturbed by the crash and 10,000 people were treated for injuries, mostly severe. Only 18 people in the twin towers during the collapse survived.

Flight 93 heading to California was high jacked forty minutes after leaving New Jersey. The plane was delayed before taking off, which led to the passengers leading about the attack on the twin towers. Passengers and flight attendants, discovering they were on hijacked airplane, knew they had to do something. Many passengers called their loved ones knowing they weren’t going to make it. Todd Beamer was heard saying “Are you guys ready? Let’s roll!”

They fought the four hijackers and devastatingly crashed in Pennsylvania at 10:10 a.m. All of the passengers were killed, but had kept the airplane from crashing into the believed destination of the White House.

A total of 2,996 people were killed in the 9/11 attacks on September 11th. All of which included 343 firefighters and paramedics, 23 New York police, 37 Port Authority police officers, 2,574 civilians, and the 19 terrorists.

This year I watched footage from the attacks on 9/11 and read books on it. Unfortunately, I didn’t go to any of the public ceremonies this year, but was able to in previous years. I would however encourage everyone to watch a documentary called “9/11” by Gedeon and Jules Naudet and the docuseries “9/11 one day in America” by Caroline Marsden and Daniel Marsden.

May we never forget the live that we’re lost that day.

“Stand fast therefore I’m the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” Galatians 5:1.
