Seboyeta cleanup

Dear Editor;

The history of Seboyeta is as interesting as the beauty of this quaint New Mexico community. Seboyeta was founded in 1746 by Padre Juan Menchero. I am always completely captivated by this area with its multiple peaks and stunning scenery. I took my daughter Tess to see the beautiful Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church and the beautiful grotto further up the canyon.

We had a wonderful turnout for our community cleanup. We met so many great people as we worked together to keep this beautiful area clean and beautiful. You can sense the pride the people that live here have in the community by how clean it truly is. This community has a long history with families that have lived here since the original land grants were granted by the King of Spain. I met members of the Garcia, Baca, and the Marquez Family and many more.

I want to express thanks and gratitude to the people of Seboyeta and their warm hospitality and hard work. I want to thank Cibola County Commissioner Christine Lowery for taking the time to come to these cleanups and make a great difference. I believe that leadership is always top down and Commissioner Lowery proves this on a consistent basis. Randy Ryan, candidate for NM House District 69 has been a big help at these cleanups, and I am grateful for his service and example. A big thank you to Wayne Vigil who has had a consistent presence at our cleanups. He operates the backhoe and keeps the dumpsters pounded down and helps residents get their heavy trash and junk into the roll offs safely. I really appreciate NWNMSWA and Billy Moore and Brenda for making all of this happen.

Many people are concerned by the loss of jobs at Marathon Oil, Tri-State, and Peabody Coal Mine. The one thing we never want to do in times like this, is to panic. If we all climb out of our houses and continue to work and contribute in whatever way, we can get our economy going again we will see new business come to our county. By keeping our county clean, we will invite new businesses to open and provide good jobs. We need to recognize that legislation has consequences for the prosperity of our communities. Remember this when you exercise your sacred right to choose the leaders that will be making these important decisions for us. Please vote your conscience and make your vote count!

May God bless our county, our state, and our nation always.
