Letters to the Editor

Dear editor, The Easter season is upon us and my mind has been focused on gratitude. Gratitude for the Savior of all mankind, even Jesus the Christ. His mission, His life, His example and death and resurrection. The Son of God came to this earth as we all do, as a child. His mother was Mary, His Father was God the Eternal Father.

Though His ministry was not very long (about 3 years), it has given hope and salvation for over two thousand years. He taught the Gospel, ministered and healed the sick and afflicted, the blind, and the deaf. He raised the dead and had the power to cast out devils. Christ enjoyed the company of the poor and humble, sharing meals and teaching them a better way. All through his ministry His life was sought by those who hated His teachings and the miracles He performed.

Christmas is the time that we worship His birth. Easter is the season where we contemplate His death and resurrection. In the Garden of Gethsemane, He took upon himself the sins of the world. He suffered so greatly that He bled at every pore. As if that wasn't bad enough, He was taken to the Palace of Caiaphas, the Jewish High Priest, and tortured and brought before Pontius Pilate, where Christ was sentenced to die on a cross between two thieves.

His body was placed in a borrowed tomb and on the third day the Savior came forth from the tomb. Jesus is the Living Christ. Because of His birth, life, ministry, death and resurrection and ultimate sacrifice for mankind, we will all be resurrected one day, clothed in immortality and eternal life.
