Dear editor, The City of Grants is definitely on the move forward! You may have noticed that the employees of the City have been busy fixing streets and cleaning the medians on both sides of the streets of all trash and weeds. I have received numerous calls from residents wanting me to pass on a big 'Thank You' to these hard working employees for their hard work and dedication the beautification of our City.

The City leaders have concentrated very hard on taking care of the infrastructure issues, such as filling in potholes and repaving streets. Every mile of paving costs a million dollars! Great concentration has been made on replacing collapsed sewer lines throughout the City. Most of the sewer lines in the City are over 40 years old!

The City has also been working on many projects that will benefit our community greatly. A new Community Pantry will be up and running soon. The rodeo grounds will soon have a new covered arena that will bring in large rodeo crowds and money into our City. A new Firemen and Police Memorial will be built on the hill soon, where the Old Grants Police Department was. Bridges are being replaced for the safety of our community and new businesses at a large cost and there is a constant effort in keeping the arroyos and washes cleared to protect residents from flooding events.

We thank all residents that do their part to keep our City clean and safe. If you see trash, please pick it up. If you see suspicious criminal behavior, please report it. Our efforts to beautify and keep our communities safe will guarantee a better community for our residents to live and thrive in.

Robert S. Windhorst, Code Enforcement Officer, City of Grants
