The new norm: …New Year’s Resolution 2021

Well, we made it into 2021 and I cautiously look for all its pending surprises to come. I looked out the front room window at our automobiles on the driveway and realized they are a year older now.

I looked in the mirror and realized the same. I got the bathroom scale from under the bathroom sink that is stored next to the “Pine Bouquet” aerosol, and cautiously got onto it to see what all the “stay at home and social distancing” had done for my physique. I was sure the scale just winked at me!

I thought of all we did not get to do last year due to the COVID pandemic and stopped and thought of what I really did not need to do this year as I apparently survived without doing those things last year.

I returned to sorting items that “need” to be done this year or not and to make a plan - a resolution of sorts. I made lists of each project that didn’t get done last year and thought of their “need “to be done this year. Maybe I need to slow down on some things and rethink my need to continue with organizations that we have been part of for years. Maybe it is time to have more “us” time…

But then I thought: maybe we can just add one more event or organization or take more kids fishing or to car shows. Or camping. Or maybe just paint rocks and read stories. We can slow down later. Maybe we can help clean a neighbor’s yard. Maybe look at “just one more” vintage car or camp trailer. Mask on and full speed ahead!

Happy New Year: Just an idea of my New Year’s resolution 2021.
