Pay heed to your own actions

Dear editor,

My name has been thrown about council meetings and sprinkled in an “article” which read much more like a slanted op-ed. It’s time I share some insight on this absurdity.

First and foremost-the “allegation” that Modey Hicks included during his diatribe on November 18 is absolutely without merit and false. The race between myself and Vanessa Chavez is over, the ballots were counted and verified. I won.

I have no idea why anyone would think that I would involve myself in city affairs to get back at someone because I lost a county. Losing a county means I need to work to earn more anglo democrat votes, not interfere in Human Resource decisions. Frankly, if the Cibola Citizen had done their due diligence as a fair and reputable source of journalistic integrity, I would have been contacted for input. Unfortunately, the reporter displays his lack of objectivity so I never received a call, text or email.

It is very disappointing that the work I have done for the City of Grants during my years as State Representative are so callously dismissed by Mayor Hicks so he can fight with city councilors whom I only speak to at ground breaking events. Not a single member of the Grants City Council has asked me about personnel decisons. I have appropriated capital outlay to the city of Grants 95% of the time that Mayor Hicks requested it. The people of Grants deserve viable sewer systems and street upgrades, It has nothing to do with politics. Mayor Modey Hicks needs to pay heed to his own actions, his plan to use the city manager office to run campaigns doesn’t feel like operating in the best interest of Grants.

Sincerely, Eliseo Alcon, State Representative, United States Army
