Travels in Grants

It seems impossible to always think about 'Whatever is true, whatever is honorable' because the news brings us ugliness and evil that we can't ignore. Our children and grandchildren are, and will be, affected by so very many serious issues. I need to focus on one issue at a time, to see if I can do anything to help. So a trip to the mountain to think in silence.

I marvel at the miracle of life that surrounds me. Fantastic structures, organization and a tremendous amount of complex chemical reactions are needed in a confined space to enable the pines to grow, the birds to sing, the ant to walk over my foot. Really, so many miracles each day-especially when I see and talk to the creatures called human. With each year, life is more precious.

The controversy about killing is dividing our nation. The massive amount of sexual confusion is leading to great emotional and physical deformity. Memories return: the young girl so excited about picking out the right dress and shoes and hairdo for the prom so she would look like a princess, but ended the night in a cheap motel looking at her dress hanging on the door and not remembering the rest; the 8th grade girl searching social media for beauty secrets so she will be treated as some THING special- without knowing that her youthful innocence and desire to be loved already made her as attractive and delightful as the first Spring flower; the old women who still speak with pain about being betrayed by their first love and having to kill the child cuddled inside them while wounding themselves for the rest of their lives; the woman in college or at a prestigious job who has to get drunk or use drugs to participate in the chilling act of being entered and used.

It is only a band aid to use a pill or instrument to destroy 'the problem'. There still is the anguish that will come out as rage or hardness of heart or loss of trust, even for those who may really care for her.

How can I convince her that she can re-establish her spiritual integrity and that each day is a new chance to start over? Will she blieve there are people she can trust? Will she believe that she has been loved at a great price?

I know with all my heart that she is still capable of greatness and the beauty developed by overcoming suffering, as she fulfills her mission on Earth. Will she believe me?
