Voting is a Privilege

Dear Editor,

Dear Cibola County,

It is critical that each of us registered voters in Cibola County vote! Do you like the direction of your town/city/county/state/co untry? Vote! Do you like the actions of elected officials? Vote! Have the decisions made by those elected officials made your life better – or worse? Vote!

Voting is a special privilege given to the citizens of the United States. When contemplating for whom to vote this election season, please consider the following: • What has the can

• What has the candidate done to back up his/her words? (Action speaks louder. . .)

• What life experience does the candidate have to support/bolster their bid for office? (Has s/he ever run a business? Made payroll? Would you hire him or her?)

• Who are the candidate’s supporters? (‘By their friends you shall know them. . .’)

• If currently serving an elected office, has the candidate consistently voted in support of the citizens of Cibola County? (Were jobs increased – or decreased – because of her/his vote?)

• Do the candidate’s core values match up with yours? (Candidates’ opinions on issues such as pro-life, pro-choice; pro-2nd Amendment, anti-2nd Amendment; God-fearing, no place for God; pro-law enforcement, defund the police; are all examples of what to look for in making this determination.)

For the Primary, it does matter if you’re voting for a Democrat, a Libertarian, or a Republican – we voters can only ‘vote the party line’ so to speak. There are several races, however, with multiple candidates for one office, so voting for the best candidate for the job, versus the most popular, or the best-looking on TV, is extremely important.

Please! Do your homework! Check out who the candidates are. There’s a saying that’s quite popular right now: “Elections have consequences.” This was true in November 2020 – and will be again in November 2022. Vote, Cibola!
