GRANTS, N.M. –
The Pirates went 2-1 this past week and are currently 13-7, 1-1 as district play moves forward. The Pirates lost, 7-4, to district rival the St. Pius Sartans (11-4, 1-0) in an away district game.
The Pirates scored a run in the 2nd and 3rd innings and two runs in the 5th for a total of four runs compared to St. Pius who scored a total of seven runs. William Archuleta, Nick Bustos and Tyler Everhart had RBI’s for the Pirates. Nick Bustos had three hits and teammates Maurico Chavez and Tyler Everhart had two hits apiece in that game. Chavez scored two runs and Andres Lopez and Tyler Everhart has two run each to round out the Pirates scoring. Izeyah Manzanares and Mauricio Chavez pitched in that game.
On Saturday, April 2 the Pirates traveled to Bloomfield High School, where they scored some booty as they defeated the Bobcats 11-7 and 14-3 in a doubleheader. The game scheduled for Valencia High School on Tuesday, April 5 was postponed to a later date.
Lady Pirate Softball
The Lady Pirates softball team is 3-11 and 1-1 after recent win over Highland High School, 30-19 on Tuesday, March 29 and a loss to the Lady Sartans of St. Pius, 18-1, on Thursday, March 31. They play the Lady Jaguars of Valencia (3-11) on April 5 in a district away game.
Hawk Baseball
The Laguna Acoma-Hawks are slugging their way past their most recent completion as they handled the Questa High School Bobcats 23-1 and 17-01 in a recent double header held at Questa High School on Thursday, March 31. The Hawks advance to 8-2 as they take on Navajo Prep (2-12) on Thursday, April 7 in a non-district away game.
Lady Hawk Softball
The Lady Hawks softball team is currently 3-2 after defeating Santa Rosa High School on Saturday, April 2 in a home game by a score of 12-11. They will play Navajo Prep (3-10) on Thursday, April 7 in a home non-district game.
