    GRANTS, N.M. – Runners, walkers, bicyclists and even a few fourlegged participants took to Coyote del Malpais Golf Course Aug. 29 for a community fun run organized by Grants Recreation.

    The event gave residents a chance to experience the golf course in a different way, with participants following a route through the open landscape beneath the mesas west of Grants.

    “Getting people interested and involved is the starting point for our golf course to take a turn,” Grants Mayor Erik Garcia said. “It takes everyone to make it happen.”

    Grants Recreation thanked participants following the event and said the course and its challenges were well received.

    The next scheduled Fun Run/Walk/Bike will be held Sept. 19 at NMSU Grants.
