GHS lady harriers take third in district; state race next

The GHS lady Pirate cross country team placed third in their district (4-A 5) and they will be able to compete at the state cross country meet to be held at Academy High School this Saturday, November 6th. The lady Pirates are led by seniors Andria Moquino, Skyler Charlie and Iyessa Arriaga. Cadence Siow, Laila Martinez and Leah Pedro are the other remaining team members that will compete this Saturday. Grants High School boys cross country had two qualify for the state cross country meet. They GHS boys cross country team qualified two runners for the state cross country meet. Ruben Shroulote and Andreas Oso will compete as individuals at the state cross country meet.

Volleyball

The lady Pirates volleyball team lost their most recent district match up against the Valencia Jaguars, 1-3 (25-15, 25-22, 15-25 and 18-25) this past Thursday in an away game. The lady Pirates are currently 11-10, 3-3 and in third place in 4-A district 5 as the close out the regular season. St. Pius High School is first in the district with a record of 10-9, 7-0 followed by Valencia High School with a record of 8-13, 4- 3. The lady Pirates will play at home on Tuesday, November 2, against the lady Hornets of Highland High School (1-18, 1-5). The lady Pirates will wind down their district season on Thursday, November 4 against the Belen Eagles (1-15, 1-5).
