GRANTS, N.M. - In other local sports the GHS lady Pirate soccer team is currently 4-5,0-1 after a couple of recent games. They were defeated by district rival, the lady Spartans of St. Pius, 9-0, on September 21.
On September 25, they defeated the lady Elks of Pojoaque, 4-0. Chloe Rychner had three goals in that contest and Marisa Soto had one goal.
Next up will be two away district games against the Valencia Jaguars (5-5) on Tuesday September 28 and Highland Hornets (4-6) on September 30.
The GHS boys’ soccer team is currently 0-10 and will travel to same contests as the girls’ teams to compete this week.
Volleyball
The GHS lady Pirate volleyball team is currently 4-7 and coming off one recent win against Thoreau, 3-0, and a pair of losses to Laguna Acoma, 3-0 and to Ramah 3-1. The will play away this week, on Wednesday September 29, as they will face off with Aztec (6-5), whom the lady Pirates had previously defeated, 3-0, on August 28.
Next week on Tuesday, October the lady Pirates will travel for a district game against St. Pius (3-8).
