The Laguna Acoma Hawks baseball team is on a four-game winning streak after defeating Thoreau 19-1 and duplicating that score, 19-1, on Tuesday, March 2 in a double header hosted by the Thoreau Hawks (2-4). “We continue to work hard at our practices and our games to learn and grow each day – we are now starting to get a good rhythm with our defense and our pitching,” said L-A head coach Brandon Gonzales

They defeated Estancia (3-1) by a score of 8-6 on Thursday, March 24 in a close game. “On that game we relied on our defense quite a bit and knew that our team would battle,” said Gonzales

The Hawks went on to defeat Lordsburg in a tighter contest by a score of 12-11 on Saturday, March 26. “We were down by four in the bottom of the seventh against Lordsburg and we persevered and overcame that deficit—we can overcome tough times as long as we do it together,” said Gonzales of that game.

Next up for the Hawks will be a double at home against the Wingate Bears (0-2) on Tuesday, March 29.
