The Laguna-Acoma Lady Hawks are currently 13-8, 2-0 as they face their toughest opponent at home, the Dulce Hawks (15-5,1-0) Friday at 6:30 p.m. at The Nest. The Hawks are currently the top team in District 1 2A followed closely by the Dulce Hawks who are second in the district.

'I am happy to be 138 and looking at our schedule for this season we played a lot of 3A and 4A schools and we have done well and held our own,' said Lady Hawk Head Coach Daryl Mariano. 'We had a lot of close games that didn't go our way – but we are entering district play with a good chance to be the top seed.'

The Lady Hawks are ranked sixth in the state on the Maxpreps.com 2A girls’ basketball rankings and also ranked sixth in the January 23, New Mexico Overtime Sports coaches’ poll. 'We have a good shot at winning district--- we just need to continue to play our game and keep growing as the season progresses,' said Mariano.
